The reviews are in and the DJI Pocket 3 is a big hit with content creators with its 1” sensor, long battery life and great video and sound quality. It’s also very small compared to similarly capable cameras and maintains the pocketability of its predecessors. But small can be a double edges sword when it comes to being able to comfortably hold the camera and hold it steady while operating the controls. Add having HUGE hands like I do and it creates the opportunity to rig up the tiny camera with a side handle to enable two handed operation and stability.
So the first step is to find a cage that works for the camera. I found one made by Tilta. There are other mounts and cages out there but one of the best things about this one is that it provides for quick snap-in and one button release of the Pocket 3.
I had a handle from another build that has ARR, 1/4-20, and a cold shoe mount on top. I also had a phone holder that mounts to a cols shoe.
The last piece is a power plate that holds Sony NP style batteries which are the most common battery used in photography these days and are widely available.
As you can see in the diagram above it mounts to cages with 1/4” screws, provides 36W of USB-C power along with other common voltages to power cameras, displays, and other accessories.
